Renewable Power has a strong community focus and works closely with local groups in Somerset.
Our ethos is that communities must be supported because they have an extremely important role to play in preventing climate change. Development of appropriate, community-owned renewable energy is an important part of the process. In our commercial projects, we like to consult with communities at an early stage to identify any local issues.
As a founder director of Brendon Energy Limited Industrial and Provident Society, we turned an idea and hope into reality with a successful community share launch and the installation of a 29kW solar PV roof on Somerset County Council's Children's Centre. We are now looking to install further 100% community-owned renewable energy over the coming months.
Renewable Power has worked closely with Somerset County Council to project-manage a photo-voltaic array at Milverton School. The school has achieved Gold Flag Eco-School Status. An array of solar electric photo-voltaic (PV) panels has been installed on the school roof. This achieves a 2kW peak output.
Our field scale solar project at Culmhead will provide a community fund for environmental benefits including renewable energy owned by the community.
